Pagājuši pieci gadi kopš Deklans Heils personīgi pārtrauca gandrīz vai mūžību ilgušo karu starp Bruņiniekiem un Renegātiem, bet trauslā miera cena un sekas pat pārāk nopietnas. Pateicībā Deklans saņēma mūžīgu izraidīšanu uz Zemes. Pašam Deklanam sava tiesa sāpīgu atmiņu.

Aptuveni pirms gada un drusku vēl biju lasījis Goodreads izlozē laimētu trešo daļu, tāpēc samērā interesanti lasīt, kā līdz tam nonāk, cik nu atmiņa ļauj atcerēties. Bet joprojām nedaudz neizprotu Zemes un citu Visumu/realitāšu savstarpējo saistību, vien to, ka pastāv īpašas grāmatas, kuru pasaulēs var ‘’ienirt’’, kurās tad noris Bruņinieku un Renegātu cīņas.

Ja vēl par paša atmiņām un trešo grāmatu, tad brīžiem bija apjukums radās, lai saprastu Deklanam apkārtējo tēlu lojalitāti (kurā pusē viņi ira); īpaši Emīlijas Greisas. Kas zin, varbūt pat kāda puszvaigzne pie vērtējuma vairāk, pateicoties sērfošanai atmiņās :D

Deklans bez īpašas izvēles tiek ierauts atpakaļ notikumu mutulī, bet visai dīvainā kārtā, pēc paša apciemojuma no nākotnes plus nomirst acu priekšā. Jāpiebilst, ka Deklanam pieder grāmatu veikals, cik varēja saprast, tad lietotu. Deklans cīņā nemetas viens – palīdz Sofija, Ītans, Markuss… – bet ne visiem var pilnībā uzticēties.

Maģija un tās spēka avots šajā grāmatā patīkami neierasts un saistīt ar Gribu, bet ne ikviens to spēj izmantot, vairums parasti vientieši :D Bez maģijas vēl arī neparasti un bīstami radījumi no Tukšuma (Void). Cerams otrajā grāmatā būs lielāka skaidrība, kas tas tāds.  : )

Cits interesants sīkums, ka Deklana Heila mītnes vieta uz Zemes ir Austrālijā. Bet varam būt droši, ka ilgi Deklanas nedabūs kvernēt atkal savā veikaliņā. Kā arī brīžiem nākas apšaubīt, vai Deklans vēl ir pie pilna saprāta.

Vēl piebildīšu, ka patika, ka netiek patērēts īpaši daudz laika iepazīstinot ar tēliem un kas noticis līdz tam. Ik pa brīdim tiek dotas norādes uz pagātni.

It’s been five years since Declan Hale stopped almost unending war between Knights Infernal and Renegades. But the price and consequences for that are grave and harsh. In return Declan was exiled to forever live on Earth. For Declan himself has some very painful memories from those events.

About a year ago I had a chance to read the third book in this series which I won in Goodreads giveaway. So it was quite interesting to read what happens before that, as much the memories are there. One thing I still don’t understand is the connection between Earth and other Universes/realms. Only that there are certain books in which you (those with Will – the magic) can ‘’dive’’ into, and it’s where the fights between Knights and Renegades happen.

What else was a bit confusing then it was loyalties of some characters as to Declan or something else; like on which side they are; especially Emily Grace. Who knows maybe because I read the third book before this one the rating is a half (distant) star higher.

Without much choice Declan is thrown back into turmoil after witnessing his own death (from near future). I should add that Declan owns a book shop. In this fight Declan isn’t alone; with help from Sophie, Eathan (new guy), Marcuss… – but you can trust only to yourself. But from time to time you question sanity of Declan.

I mentioned Will which is the sort of magic in this series; I would like to compare it to Force : ) Also without the magic there are strange and very dangerous (also ugly) creatures coming out of Void. Hopefully more information about it in the second book. An interesting detail that Declan on Earth lives in Australia. But we can be sure that he won’t have much time to sell those books.

And the last thing. What I liked that there isn’t much time spent on introduction; you have catch those snippets when they are given along the main story.

Pagājis gandrīz pusgads kopš iepriekšējās grāmatas notikumiem un Henrika nāves, kad Malons atkal tiek izrauts no grāmatu pārdošanas – jāpalīdz briesmās nonākušajai Kasiopejai. Viņas iemesls, kāpēc nonākusi tādā situācija, atrodams prīkvelā ‘’The Balkan Escape’’. Levs Sokolovs pats nonācis nepatikšanās plus viņa 4 gadīgais dēls nolaupīts; Kasiopejas iespēja atlīdzināt.

Malona ceļš vedīs uz Ķīnu, bet viss nav tik vienkārši. Tur briest varas maiņa, un par to, kurš par nākamo līderi – Ni Jongs vai Karls Tangs – ieinteresētas tādas lielvaras kā ASV un Krievija. Šajā ziņā darbībā atgriežas trešajā sērijas grāmata esošais Viktors Tomas, kurš joprojām ir tikpat neuzticams un nekādīgi nevar saprast, kurā pusē tad viņš ir.

Ni Jongs un Karls Tangs savos uzskatos un vīzijā par Ķīnas nākotni ir ļoti atšķirīgi. Viens vairāk sliecas uz valsts lielāku demokratizāciju~, bet otrs gatavs izmantot militāru spēku un bailes, lai par katru cenu panāktu savējo.

Bet lielā grāmatas tēma, ja nu nafta, kuru tagad vairumā iegūst ir nevis biotiska, tādējādi izsmeļams un ierobežots resurss, bet gan abiotiska, kuru Zeme pati pastāvīgi ražo un rodas stipri vien dziļāk. Šāda apziņa droši vien mainītu šo to pasaules kārtībā un cenu pavisam noteikti.

Sērijā parādās drusku no romantiskā. Ja līdz šim Malons un Kasiopeja savstarpējas simpātijas situācijas spiesti atlikuši otrajā plānā, tad notikumi liek piespiež ne vien apjaust jūtas, bet arī atklāt tās; sava loma tajā arī nesenajai drauga zaudēšanai.

                                                                                                                                                

It’s been nearly six months since events in the last book and Henrik’s death when Malone again is pulled into new deadly adventure – he has to help Cassiopeia. Reasons why her own life is in danger you can find in the prequel ‘’The Balkan Escape’’. Lev Sokolov is in danger, and also his four year old son has been kidnapped. This is a chance for Cassiopeia to repay a favor.

Eventually Malone’s path will lead him to China but not everything is that simple. Soon there will be a change as who will lead the country next and the struggle for that position is between Ni Yong and Karl Tang. Two superpowers of the world USA and Russia are interested in the outcome. In this case I have to mention a recurring character Viktor Tomas from third book of the series. Once again you can’t be 100% sure if you can trust him as he changes sides by the minute.

Ni Yong and Karl Tang are very different in their beliefs and in the vision of China’s future. On tends towards more democratization but the other is willing to use any amount of force and fear to be in the power.

The big theme of this was, what if oil that produced today was not biotic in that way non-renewable resource but abiotic – oil that Earth produces constantly and way deeper than fossil fuel. This kind of knowledge might change world order and definitely the current oil price. But that’s only what if.

In this book the romantic story line appeared a little between Malone and Cassiopeia. If previously events forced them to suppress the feelings they thought they might have then recent events and a recent loss of a mutual friend makes them realize the situation.

Zudusī Aleksandrijas bibliotēka un milzīgais informācijas daudzums, kas pēc oficiālās versijas pilnībā zudis, bet, ja nu tomēr, kāds būtu paspējis izglābt vismaz daļu? Arī otrā daļa koncentrējas uz reliģijas tēmu, bet šoreiz saistībā par Vecajā Derībā ebreju tautai apsolīto zemi, un, vai Izraēlas teritorija atbilstu oriģinālajos tekstos minētajai, vai arī tā būtu kur citur.

Ir organizācija super-bagāta austrieša Alfrēda Hermana vadībā, kas būtu gatava gūt grandiozu peļņu, ja tāda informācija nonāktu atklātībā. Ieinteresēti būt gan kristieši, gan musulmaņi, gan minētie ebreji.

Savu intrigu piedod politisko līderu aktivitātes ASV, ar kurām mēģina tikt galā Stefānija un Kasiopeja (Cassiopeia Vitt) – abas jau drusku iepazītas pirmajā grāmatā. Vēl viens tēls no ‘’The Templars Legacy’’, abu dāmu un Malona sabiedrotais – ar savām interesēm (vecā nauda) un arī lielu bagātību apveltītais Henriks Torvaldsens.

Alexandria Link – misijas nosaukums pirms pieciem gadiem, pēc kuras Malons ir vienīgais, kurš zina par sargājamā subjekta pašreizējo atrašanos, un nav nemaz pagājis tik ilgs brīdis kopš saskares ar templiešiem, kad Malons jau spiests atkal iesaistīties dzīvību apdraudošā piedzīvojumā. Spiests, jo nolaupīts dēls Garijs.

Bibliotēkas meklējumos Malons nav viens, to laikā iespēja nogludināt attiecības ar bijušo; kā arī līdzās ienaidnieks, kurš jāpieciešas.

The lost Library of Alexandria and the vast amount of information and documents which officially has been completely lost but what if it wasn’t? The second book of this series also concentrates on religion but this time it’s about Israel, its territory and is it the correct one. Does match the one mentioned in the Old Testament?

The Order of the Golden Fleece led by Alfred Hermann is surely ready and willing to take economical advantages if the information that the promised land is elsewhere would become public.

Some intrigue to the plot comes from political leader activities in USA, with whom Stephanie Nelle and Cassiopeia Vitt tries to tackle – both were active in the first book. The other know character and participating on Malones side with his own agenda – the rich Henrik Thorvaldsen.

Alexandria link was a mission five years ago after which Malone was the only one to know where his protected subject lives. Malone didn’t have much time to rest after the interaction with Templars. He is forced in the action because his Gary gets kidnapped.

Malone isn’t alone in his search for the lost library, he is accompanied with ex-wife Pam – a chance to repair relationship; also they have to tolerate the company of an enemy.

At the end there are explanations about imagined and actual facts which were a bit disappointing : )

Pēc šīs grāmatas noklausīšanās rodas būtisks jautājums, vai mēs(civilizācija kopumā) esam gatavi gadījumā, ja pienāktu vēsts no citplanētiešiem, kur nu vēl ierastos uz Zemes personīgi. Domājams (visticamāk), ka nē, bet līdz tā nav noticis, droši tā, protams, nevar apgalvot.

Tātad vēsts no citas inteliģentas dzīvības formas pienāk radiosignāla veidā no 25 gaismas gadus attālas zvaigznes Vega sistēmas. Par to, ka ziņa tiešām ir no citplanētiešiem, nevis kaut kāds gļuks, liecina tās sarežģītība un daudzsļāņainība. Kā pats pirmais slānis ir Hitlera uzruna 1936.gada olimpiskajās spēlēs, jo tas ir bijis pirmais stiprais signāls, kas spējis pārvarēt Zemes atmosfēru.

Katrs jauns atklājums izraisa globālas diskusijas par dažnedažādām tēmām. Vienubrīd jau nobijos, ka diskusijas aiziet pilnībā reliģiozā virzienā. Tiek rasta iedvesma lielvarām samazināt savus kodolieroču arsenālus.

Pēc instrukcijām tiek uzbūvētā ārkārtīgi dārga Mašīna, un visi domā, ka nu tik būs gaidītā iepazīšanās ar tām būtnēm, kas vēsti sūtījušas. Diemžēl ‘’ceļojums’’ un satikšanās ir tāda, ka iesaistītajiem nav nekādu fizisku pierādījumu, kā vien pašu teiktais + no apkārtējo no skatpunkta viņu aparātā nosēdēja vien 15 minūtes, un nekas īpašs nenotika.

Patīkami, ka arī šīm būtnēm viss nemaz nav skaidrs un ir pirms viņiem ir bijušas kādas citas, kas savas ziņas ietvērušas, piemēram, pī skaitlī.

                                                                                                                                                

After listening to this book I had a question if we (civilization in general) are ready and prepared if we receive a message from aliens, and not even thinking if they arrive on Earth personally. I believe that probably were not.

So the intelligent message is coming from the Vega system 25 light years away. There isn’t doubt that this message might some kind of error because it is too complicated with many layers. The first layer contains video of Adolf Hitler’s opening speech at the 1936 Summer Olympics because it was the first television signal powerful enough to escaper Earth’s atmosphere (ionosphere).

Each new discovery creates global discussion about many themes and issues. For a moment I was afraid that discussions would become completely religious. The message and probable aliens inspire nations to minimise their nuclear weapon arsenal.

After instructions in the message a very expensive Machine is built and everyone finally thinks that long waited meeting aliens or something like that is near. Unfortunately the travel and encounter with other intelligent life form turns out without any physical proof for those who travelled, just what they are saying. From perspective of others they were just sitting in the Machine for ~15 minutes without anything special happening.

Agreeably that even for the aliens who sent the message not everything is clear. There have been some intelligent beings before them which have their own messages – one of them hidden in the Pi.

Nopirku to ‘’Latvijas grāmatu izstādē 2015’’

Kolumbs un notikumi pirms vairāk kā 500 gadiem ir saistīti ar grāmatas tagadni visai intriģējošā veidā, uzdodot jautājumus par iespējamiem dārgumiem un leģendām, kā arī par pašu Kolumbu.

Toms, izbijis žurnālists, kurš novests tik tālu, ka ir gatavs sev padarīt galu, neparastā veidā tiek no saviem nodomiem aizkavēts un iesaistīts šajā piedzīvojumā.

No visiem tēliem varētu teikt, ka Toma meita Alle man patika vismazāk. Gan sava naivuma dēļ, uzticēdamās neīstajiem(viegli iespaidojama), gan savu dubulto standartu dēļ. Viņai vieglāk ir izdomāt dažādus iemeslus un dusmoties uz tēvu, nekā mēģināt rast risinājumu. Jāatzīst, ka arī pats Toms nav bez savas vainas.

Par šī stāsta ļaundariem varētu uzskatīt divus bagātus, savā ziņā līdzīgus, bet atšķirīgus vīrus – Zachariah Simon un Bène Rowe. Ja Saimons vēlas atrast zudušos dārgumus un atjaunot Trešo templi(ebreji…), kādēļ gatavs novākt jebko, kas stājas ceļā, tad Benē vairāk motivēts ar leģendu un dārgumu materiālo vērtību kā tādu. Bet kopumā, lai gan abi nekautrējas izmantot kriminālas metodes, Benē šķita labāks.

Pa lielam stāsts labs, netrūkst intrigas, bet būtu paticies, ja beigu notikumu noslēgtos citādāk, bet tāpēc jau esmu lasītājs. : )

                                                                                                                                                

Columbus and the events 500 years ago are linked with the present in a very intriguing way, asking questions about possible treasure and legends, also about Columbus himself.

Tom (ex-journalist) has gone so far that he is ready to take his own life but in an unusual way gets disturbed and included into this adventure.

From all characters I could say that Alle(Tom’s daughter) I liked the least. Trusting the wrong people, being naïve and also because of hers double standards. It was easier for her to blame her father and make up excuses than to search for solution. Of course Tom isn’t without fault himself.

Of this books villains you could consider Zachariah Simon and Bène Rowe, both wealthy and in some ways similar but definitely different. If Simon wants to find treasure and restore the Third temple by all means (Jews…) then Bène is motivated by the material value of treasure and legends surrounding them. I would like to think Bène as the better one of them two.

Overall the story was good with enough mystery but for me the conclusion could have been a bit different. : )

Otrajā sērijas daļā pamatā uzmanība veltīta Skārletai(Scarlet) un viņas nolaupītajai vecmāmiņai Mišelai (Michelle). Man pat pietika ar to apjomu, kas tika atvēlēts Sinderai. Viņas gaitas turpinās, kur beidzās pirmajā grāmatā -> bēg no cietuma. Līdzi viņai paķeras arī cits ieslodzītais Carswell Thorne, un, lai gan sākumā, liekas, ka tas nāks vien par skādi, tad patiesībā, labi, ka tā. Papildus tam visam Sinderai jācenšas aprast ar domu, kas viņa pēc izcelsmes ir patiesība, tādējādi drusku tiek atklāts par viņas nokļūšanu uz Zemes, kas arī par iemeslu vecmāmiņas pazušanai.

Protams, karaliene Levana nesēž rokas klēpī salikusi, un varētu pat šķist, ka panāk savu. Bet būs interesanti, vai Sindera, kā arī viņas sabiedrotie, tomēr vien samierināsies.?

Kā tiku pie šīs grāmatas?

 Sākot lasīt saprotot, ka šī grāmata nav daiļliteratūra, bet gan non-fiction jeb dokumentāla, tad biju visai skeptisks par grāmatu un tās iespējamo vēsti/gaitu. Bet aptuveni pēc piektdaļas šķietu uztvēru domāto starojumu un iepatikās. To tiešām var saukt par TEKSTU, un, ja tā nav ne romāns, dzeja prozā, vai proza dzejā, tad es to uzdrošinātos nodēvēt par dienasgrāmatveidīgu prozu. Datumiem vairāk pat ir strukturāla loma, jo ne vienmēr tie seko hronoloģiski. Lieliski noder kā atslodze starp daiļās literatūras darbiem.

Ik pa brīdim ir vārdi lielajos burtos, kas tā vien prasa tiem pievērst lielāku vērību un nozīmi. Kā arī daži ieraksti atkārtojas, bet tas nepavisam nav slikti un doma, manuprāt, līdzīga kā ar vārdiem.

Ir ieskats diplomātiskajās lietās, piemēram, sapratu, ka Jākam ne pārāk patīk oficiālas ceremonijas. Liek arī padomāt, vai himna jāatskaņo tik bieži, kā to dara. Interesanti uzzināt ārzemnieka/kaimiņa viedokli par šo un vēl daudz ko citu

Vairāk patika sadaļas, kur Jāks dalās ar personīgāku informāciju par ģimenes vēsturi un dabas apraksti, īpaši no atvaļinājuma un salas.

Ja iepriekš nezināju, ka viņš no 2006. līdz 2010.gadam bijis vēstnieks Latvijā, tad tagad un šobrīd (pagaidām) to zinu. Kā arī, ja Vikipēdija saka pareizi, tad turpmākās vēstnieka iemaņas realizē Zviedrijā.

Izabellai Evansai (Isabel Evans) talismana atrašana nāk tieši laikā. Būdama greizsirdīga uz par desmit minūtēm vecāko dvīņu brāli Čārliju(Charlie), viņa ir izdomājusi iedomu dvīni, lai justos pār to pārāka, kā arī velta lielas pūles, lai netiktu pamanīta gan skolā, gan vispār.

Fabricio atlicis domas par citu pasauli un vēlas savā iekarot atlikušās neatkarīgās pilsētvalstis, sākot ar Klāsu(Classe). Tādēļ noslēdzis bīstamu vienošanos ar Vārtu(Gate) cilvēkiem, kuriem pieejams liels skaits kuģu. Viņa uzmanību nespēj novērst pat jaundzimušais dēls.

Šis piedzīvojums neatgriezeniski uz labo pusi izmaina Izabellu, kura pārsteigta par tik ātru jaunu draugu (iepriekšējie stravagante) iegūšanu un iekļaušanos viņu pulciņā. Visticamāk arī noslēdzošajā daļā būs līdzīgs jauns galvenais tēls, lai gan gribētos visu iepriekšējo tādu kā apvienošanos vienā komandā. Nebūtu slikti arī gan, gan.

Divi pārstāvji no Di Kimiči un Nuči namiem spēj aizmirst abu ģimeņu naidu un vienot savas dzīves, īpaši par spīti dusmām no Fabricio, kuras ne tikai par šo vien.

Atšķirībā no citām grāmatām, ‘’Grāmatu zaglē’’ stāstu par meitēnu Līželi lasītājam atklāj Nāve(viņa). Šis fakts tiek ik pa brīdim atgādināts, kas sākumā drusku kaitināja. Bet lielāku mulsumu raisīja vārdu izvēle, kuru gribētos attiecināt uz tulkotāju.

Labs ieskats nacistiskajā Vācija Otrā pasaules kara laikā. Patika Līželes audžu vecāki Roze un Hanss Hubermaņi, viņu pašu dēls un meita jau savās dzīvēs. Abus varētu raksturot, kā labo(Hanss) un slikto(Roze) policistu. Viņi piederēja pie tiem retajiem, kuri neatbalstīja Hitlera politiku + vēl slēpa ebreju Maksi iemesla dēļ, kura sākums rodams notikumā no Pirmā pasaules kara.

Starp Maksi un Līželi izveidojas draudzība, kurā neiztikt bez savstarpējām dāvanām un uztraukuma vienam par otru. Maksis – divu grāmatu autors, kuras top pie Hubermaņiem.

Bet nedrīkst aizmirst par vēl vienu būtisku tēlu kaimiņpuiku Rūdiju Šteineru. Viņa draudzība ar Līželi ir vēl ciešāka. Tieši Rūdiju Šteineru lielā mērā varētu vainot Līželes pievēršanos noziedzīgām darbībām, bet par aizstāvību jāpiebilst, ka abu ģimenes nebija no tām pārtikušākajām.

Pēc darba nosaukuma biju domājis, ka galvenās varones zaglīgās gaitas būs daudzskaitlīgākas iegūto grāmatu ziņā. Ne visas grāmatas tiek tādā veidā iegūtas, un Līželes attiecības ar grāmatām atšķiras no manām daudzējādi. Viena atšķirībām būtu, ka viņa savas bieži pārlasa.

Beigas skumīgas, bet darbā kopumā netrūka (melnā) humora.

Stāsta pamatā puisēns Ēriks[Eric] ar ļoti attīstītu fantāziju un viņa attiecības ar ziemu. Ziemā, kad Ērikam ir septiņi gadi, viņš uzceļ nevis sniegavīru, bet sniegapūci. Notiek brīnumi, un naktīs īstas sniega pūces darbojas ap uzcelto. Diemžēl iejaucas laikapstākļi, kas to izjauc. Tā dēļ neatgriezeniski izmainās arī pats Ēriks.

Jāpiebilst arī par tēva(ne bioloģiskā) Bena spēju pieņemt puiku, iespējams, jo tik un tā mīlēja sievu, kura mira dzemdībās. Kopumā jauks, bet īss stāstiņš.
